Abstract EN

It is well known that hospitality is a labor intensive service sector.

This sector is very dependent on the proficiency of its employees.

Those employees amount to around 175000 worl^er of which 70% work for hotels and restaurants in Egypt.

Eventually, this strongly calls for studying the education and training settings as well as the sources and entry points of this workforce as a first step towards i establishing a human resources development strategy for the sector.

The strategy proposed in this paper is based on data concerning sources of labor, their education and skill levels, the geographical distribution of educational bodies and the distribution of accommodation facilities.

Data were correlated and results showed the need to align educational plans together with tourism development plans and the urge towards resizing educational facilities to cope up with both existing and potential hospitality capacity.
