تقدير الزنك و النحاس في بعض النباتات الطبية المحلية الشائعة في الأسواق السورية

Abstract EN

Medicinal plants play a major role in the health care sector .To assess the health risk associated with using medicinal plants, tow essential metals like zinc and copper were estimated in eight medicinal native Syrian plants were collected from local markets of Damascus by atomic absorption spectrophotometer .The acid digestion method was adopted according to method 3050b in order to prepare the samples.

The result of study indicated that the content of 17.3% of studied samples from copper was over the permissible limit in WHO (2007) whereas no studied samples from zinc was over the permissible limit.

This study concludes that the medicinal plants available in the market must be checked for heavy metal contamination in order to make them safe for human consumption.
