Search engine optimization : applied to destination managment organizations in Egypt

Search engine optimization plays an important role in facilitating the access to tourist information.

The purpose of this study is to identify the accessibility of Egyptian tourism related information on the internet through search engine and to understand the role of the Egyptian DMOs in helping the on line travelers to obtain the needed information about Egypt, A survey and a trip planning scenario by mimicking travelers’ use of search engine when searching for destination (i.e.

Egypt) related information were used.

The finding revealed that Egyptian DMOs need to use search engine optimization to optimize their websites, for higher representation and higher ranking in the web search.
