Abstract EN

The study deals with rural development strategies as a tool for sustainable development and unemployment reduction.

Meanings, importance, development and improvement of rural development strategies RDS to create new job opportunities are the main objectives of this study.

Descriptive analytical methods were used to analyze the Rural Development Programs RDPs conducted in Sudan.

Sources of data were the available legislative literature and the formal reports from all concerned institutions.

The research includes an Introduction, three chapters and a closing section.

Chapter one sheds light on the meanings, importance and economic objectives of rural development with a detailed description of rural Development programs conducted on developing countries and their economic importance and suitability and possible ways and means to apply them in Sudan.

Chapter two discusses the different types of unemployment, reasons and ways and means for their reduction and creation of new job opportunities according to the prevailing situations of the labor market.

Chapter three sheds light on RDP s conducted on Sudan and the role played by these programs on unemployment reduction and creation of new job opportunities.

All strong, weak points and limitations facing RDP s in Sudan were throughly discussed and practical recommendations to rectify improve these programs were forwarded.

The closing section contains the main results and recommendations.

The study revealed that there is no coordination what so ever between all bodies and institutions concerned with rural development in Sudan.

The study recommends the formation of a national strategy for rural development to be planned and prepared by all concerned parties and .institutions and community members
