Abstract EN

The World Trade Organization was founded on the ruins of the GATT in 1994 when more than 100 countries signed it in Marrakesh, Morocco, as one of the results of the Uruguay Round of trade negotiations between the members of the GATT.

The main objective of the WTO is to achieve freedom of international trade by eliminating of Discriminatory treatment with regard to the flow of international trade and the removal of all restrictions, barriers that would prevent the flow of trade across States.

Because of Iraq's existence for several decades in isolation because of previous policies and the resulting wars and blockade, which created economic distortions in most activities that weakened its competitiveness so that the economic reform in Iraq is a necessity, and one of the most important means of this reform is to integrate with The global economy requires a heavy effort to qualify for accession to the World Trade Organization.
