Abstract EN

The central Maghreb played an essential role in the process of history in Maghreb during the Middle Ages.

Its naturally fortified country, with mountains and deserts, represented as a refuge for the currents that opposed the central authority in Kairwan or the Levant, to be a safe haven for the settlement and development of the intellectual approaches, thus becoming a framework for the intellectual diversity and historical richness, in which many currents have contributed.

In this geographical context, the Rostomid State was established and founded its capital in new Tahert, which will be a capital rivalling Kairwan, Cordoba and Baghdad, in urban and intellectual levels, according to the Ibadit bibliographical sources.

And in this area numerous scientists emerged who have had a clear influence in the intellectual life in Maghreb and whole Islamic world.
