Abstract EN

Recently, new voices calling for renewing Arabic grammar have surfaced to facilitate Arabic grammar learning.

Some linguists have favourably responded to these calls.

This has manifested in Tammam Hassan's endevours.

Hassan has based his theory on the combined linguistic clues/evidence to replace the theory of agent on which Arabic grammar is founded.

This paper aimed to explore Hassan's philosophy and motives of his theory and applicability.

The research has adopted descriptive analytical approach based on induction and analysis of phenomena as well as historical approach to trace the developments over time.

The researcher has concluded that the approach is difficult to be applied in some cases although it was introduced mainly to resolve grammatical issues.

Hassan has encountered some difficulties to apply it, so his theory makes him contradictive.
