Abstract EN

This paper raises the question of how pragmatism has been used with the question of the future.

In order to address this issue, the paper is divided into four main themes.

The first axis (the future) deals with the subject of philosophy in general.

The second axis addresses the question of the future at the level of the theory of pragmatic knowledge.

The third theme concerns with the future question of William James, partically the question of change, the impact of the role of the individual in the future of the group, as well as the vision of James (A pluralistic universe).

The fourth theme was the future of Richard Rorty's theory of knowledge.

These are the main themes addressed by the paper, which focused on the contribution of two of the most prominent thinkers of pragmatism (William James and the new pragmatist Richard Rorty).

The most important conclusions of the researcher are that; the departure from the past is one of the foundations of the pragmatic approach according to the cognitive theory.

It is a method that rejects the search for primary principles, and in all forms of the absolute.

It is not about how ideas originate, not about their source, but about their practical results that can lead us to betterment of change.
