The Abbasids had from the beginning recognized the crucial importance of Hejaz, the Muslims being genuinely devoted to it no matter how they appeared to be not.

The Abbasids, therefore, handled the affairs of this region very carefully and co-opted the opponents using determents at one time and persuasion at another against its revolts, finally gaining some control over it.

This study, which uses the historical and descriptive methods, aims at highlighting the attempts of the Abbasids to subdue the region by using peaceful means, in addition to power.

The importance of the paper comes from the fact that these peaceful means deserves more deep study and analysis.

The paper concludes that while the peaceful means achieved partial success, the Alids had never ceased their revolts.

The paper recommends that researchers are invited to make deep studies on the roots of the Alids -Abbasid dispute.
