Abstract EN

This study has discussed research trends for academic theses in College of Arts of IAU during the period (2013-2016) according to the priorities of the college academic departments to reveal the subjects had been excessively explored in studies and researches, as well as the extent of the subjective dispersion for such theses.

All of that to avoid the repetition later in the future.

Hence the researchers made use of the Bibliometric methodology beside the content analysis for the abstracts of all theses approved in the College of Arts in a sample of (46) master and doctorate theses in the field of humanities.

Study findings: 1.

The Islamic Studies dept.

scored the highest percentage among the study sample in (44%), followed by Arabic Language dept.

in (26%), and then Geography dept.

in (13%) 2.

Master's degree theses were (83%) in comparison to (17%) only for Ph.D.

theses.

3.

Regarding time distribution, the approved theses number reached (14) theses as the most productive year, followed by (12) theses in 2015, and (10) theses in 2013.

Recommendations: 1.

Newly established departments as: (Libraries and Information, Sociology and Community Service) should include post-graduate studies in their plan.

2.

Necessity to develop the research priorities – at all level of College of Arts Depts.- in what serves community issues.

3.

Departments must commit to researches priorities via theses.
