Abstract EN

The effect of using mental computation strategy on the results of students with difficulties in learning Mathematics has been investigated.

This study aimed at developing a mathematical learning program according to mental computation strategy and suggesting improvement strategies for students with difficulties in learning the basics of mathematics.

The researchers used the semi-experimental approach and a sample of 48 students representing 43% of the study population.

The members of the study sample have been distributed over four groups: two groups (control and experimental), each with 12 males and two groups (control and experimental), each with 12 females.

Independent Samples T-Test has been used to assure the equality of both groups in the pre-measurement and recognize the differences in post-test according to gender.

Paired Samples T-Test has been used to recognize the differences between the two groups in the postmeasurement.

Results showed statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the average results of the students with difficulties in learning mathematics in the two groups (control and experimental) to the benefit of the experimental group.

There were also differences between the average results of the experimental group students in the post-test according to gender to the benefit of females.
