Abstract EN

All languages include fixed and idiomatic combinations that are not subject to the same rules which govern the free combinations of words.

This is due to the characteristics that distinguish them from the rest of the linguistic phenomena.

Arab specialists have not reached a unanimous definition of these units neither of their classification, nor of their characteristics.

Also, they haven't established a terminology that defines phraseology in general and each one of its classes.

This work aims to question those problems, as well as to propose terms related to this linguistic field.

Thus, we will try to fill the gap existing in the Arabic studies by presenting a new approach based on the theory of Corpas Pastor (1996).
