Abstract EN

This paper was conducted within the framework of a recent strategy by Lebanese women organizations to engage men in efforts to combat family gender-based violence.

Through this study, the author attempts to gain a more comprehensive view of violent dynamics against women, outside those obtained solely from testimonies of women victims/ survivors of violence widely portrayed in previous studies in Lebanon.

The paper offers a qualitative discourse analysis of recorded recounts of men in families that have experienced domestic violence to identify their respective family dynamics through the psychosocial factors emerging from their accounts.

Such an approach thus lays the ground for understanding the practical implications for the intervention of different stakeholders involved in combatting gender-based violence, namely the psychosocial agents for the rehabilitation of the perpetrator, the judiciary, and women’s organizations.
