Through looking at history, it was clear how some thrones were fallen while others were established, and how royal figures and families experienced significant changes in their lives in such a way that the served became a servant and the ruler became ruled.

This change of lives and circumstances is what the current paper attempts to investigate by studying the sorrow motives in Al-Mu'tamad Ibn Abbad's poetry.

It is worth mentioning here that Al-Mu'tamad Ibn Abbad is blamed for what happened to him as he was tempted by frivolity and joy forgetting forming the necessary military force to protect his country
