Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the nutritional status & health factors that effect under 16 years at the National Center for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine in Khartoum State.

The descriptive method was uses.

A random sample of 104 children (64 males, 40 females) was selected from the study population which included children suffering from leukemia; questionnaires were used to collect data.

Descriptive statistical was used to analyze data.

The results revealed that the prevalence of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and over granulomatous leukemia among the male’s diseased children was higher than females; the age of respondents was less than 10 years.

The results revealed that wasting and stunting is higher among males than female; it was also found that the male families stored pesticide in home more than females.

There was a difference between male &female in the use of the same frying oil in preparation food.

The study found that there was a difference between males and females in dietary intake of all food groups.

Moreover, most of males have not used any food system during illness compared to females.

The study recommends educating mothers in conducting regular examination check for children, attention to good nutrition for children and increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and whole grain foods.
