Abstract EN

The study aimed to establish relationship between murals and architecture, also it aimed at investigating the approaches and techniques used in contemporary murals, and it aimed to identify the trends and patterns of various schools.

The study has adopted the descriptive method through description of samples.

The samples comprised of six samples drawn from some international murals which were deliberately chosen.

The study has arrived at the fact that the contemporary murals represent an approach which constitutes new standards in the field of art; it has its roots across civilizations and its contemporary trends, to perform such an art requires collective notions in order to formulate it, in addition to integrate painting with sculpture, pottery, and architecture.

Murals are shaped by any materials or artistic touches that may lead to proper execution of work as in the case of polyester, acrylic, red bricks, and artistic values can be achieved with any materials or any painted murals.

Through the description and analysis of the research samples, it has become crystal clear that the contemporary raw materials can withstand high temperature and weathering particularly coloured murals on external walls.
