Abstract EN

The current research investigates the educational structure in A1 Medina district in 1997 and 2014 according to the available data trying to expose the educational status in regard to spatial and temporal variations as well as to the factors that have led to the occurrence of those changes.

The results gotten show that the level of illiteracy is low in urban areas and high in rural areas for all the administrative units because of the inadequacies in the basic services in the rural areas.

The study also reveals that A1 Sadiq and Iz al Deen districts have increasing illiteracy level in 1997 with a percentage of (49.3 % and 46.5 %) and then decreased in 2014 as well as the decrease in the educational level during the period of study.

This has been attributed to the inadequacy of administration.

The study also shows an increasing level of education in 2014 in females in comparison with 1997 and an increase in the level of primary and above at the level of educational accomplishment in the urban areas compared with those levels in rural areas from 1997 up to 2014.
