Abstract EN

This study suggests that the art of ceramic was not secluded from contemporary intellectual approaches.

Moreover, the transformations that occurred during the modernism era had an impact on all the plastic arts.

The paper also suggests that the concept of experimentation, which has been associated with this scientific and technological age, had a direct influence on the art of ceramics which was seen as part of the Applied Arts.

The piece of ceramic was distinguished by its function; however, at the dawn of modernism the art of ceramics was no longer isolated from the contemporary intellectual and philosophical dialogue.

Developments in science ,and technology and the spirit of this new era added values and new aesthetics to the art of ceramics, which increased its formal and expressive values.

Accordingly, the ceramic artist started to create new techniques to express his thoughts and ideas.

The study also suggests that in post-modernism new thoughts for culture and life in general and plastic art in specific has started to develop.

Therefore, the artist has abandoned individuality, and the connection between the artist, the work of art and the public was retained.Post-modernism has also recalled the connection with history as the center of the most truthful and clear documents, and that no progress can be achieved away from history.

Post-modernism, despite abandoning individuality, it was open for the world cultures tying between the past and the present to find different plastic art that melts culture and science with philosophy and art.

In postmodernism all boundaries are canceled, and the artist can express his wants through the means that assists him deliver his idea and thoughts.

As a result plastic art forms were merged into the arts of post-modernism, where technology plays a minor role, and art is no longer mere good but thoughts and ideas that can be preserved through various means of media technologies.
