Abstract EN

The search and rescue of souls operation is considered a valuable humanitarian work called by several religions, rules, norms, and international conventions, where the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has declared the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue,1979 (SAR79) as amended, and cooperating with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has issued International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual, as amended in order to aid and support all countries to construct there maritime search and rescue systems.

The research included declared the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue,1979 (SAR79) as amended and other related international conventions and the importance of the Sudanese signature on it, in addition to its application requirements on the Sudanese maritime transportation law, highlighting the Sudanese coast and River Nile and its tributaries and the recent condition of Sudanese maritime search and rescue.

The research concluded that there isn’t a system for Sudanese maritime search and rescue despite the need for it, including a system in maritime search and rescue of Saudi, used as Example to construct the Sudanese search and rescue system according to the international standards, mentioning the importance of signing Sudan on the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue,1979 (SAR79) as amended, supporting in building an association holding responsibilities, missions, duties, and organizing operations including the responsibility limits, targets, missions, organizational structure, working plan, requirements for organizing maritime rescue operations in order to cope with the leading countries.

Research is based on descriptive analytical theory describing maritime search and rescue system its duties, missions, targets, including studying models of maritime search and rescue in some countries, analyzing International Maritime Organization (IMO) statistics including world rescue operations, the research based on 2 main sources: specialized scientific references, international conventions in Search and rescue, researches, previous studies, and related articles, Secondly the electronic information network (Internet .( Study main results indicate that there is shortage in maritime safety in sudan coast, there are no government or private search and rescue organization in the republic of Sudan, the study suggest to establish search and rescue corporation according to international standards.
