Criminal justice bodies play a pivotal role in crime prevention, arrest of perpetrators and collection of physical evidence at crime scenes.

The idea of this research, being the establishment of a Central National DNA databank, emanates from the huge numbers of crimes that law enforcement and public prosecution officers could not uncover their perpetrators, a matter that falls under the purview of criminal investigations departments which function within the areas of police operations.

The idea is based on storing DNA of all community members in this DNA database to serve as a measure for uncovering mysterious incidents and reducing unsolved ones; it can also be utilized in criminal investigation field.

However this requires drawing up a comprehensive plan to develop a working mechanism for this project.

It is envisaged that the project will face social, economic, technical and legislative impediments.

This research is concerned with conceptualizing a central DNA databank project through defining a mechanism for collecting and storing DNA to be utilized in judicial and criminal fields, and more particularly in uncovering unknown perpetrators as well as victims of major crimes.

Study also conceptualizes a remedy for any impediments the project may encounter.

This project will cause rates of crime detection to rise and will boost authenticity of evidence as well as achieving specific and general deterrence
