Abstract EN
Biofilm is a community of cells attached to biotic or abiotic surface and allows micro-organisms to survive in difficult conditions.
Pathogenic bacteria released from the biofilm lead to health problems.
Conventional approaches for biofilm removal are generally inadequate and alternative strategies must be developed like the use of beneficial microorganisms and their derivate compounds.
To find a biological treatment with an antibiofilm effect, a comparative study of the effect of different probiotics extracts on the biofilms formation was carried out.
The antibiofilm potency of different probiotics supernatant (Lactobacillus plantarum (LB, Bacillus sp “HM117834” (B) and Candida famata (CF)) was investigated on different pathogenic bacteria.
The development of the biofilm was assessed using the crystal violet and cell surface hydrophobicity was evaluated by the microbial adhesion to solvent test.
The different supernatant exhibited an antibiofilm activity against Gram positive and negative strains.
Crystal violet assay demonstrated that LB supernatant exhibited the most anti-biofilms activity with a concentration starting from 20% and reached the maximum of inhibition at a concentration of 50% on all the tested strains.
Instead Bacillus supernatant was
