The Fatimidian State ruled in Egypt for a long time(358-567A.H)(968-1171A.D).The fatimidian religious services were varied in that the fatimids did not miss any liturgy holding them at various levels .

these festivals and mourning services were means of propaganda for spreading their Ismailia doctrine from one hand ,and from another hand ,these served as a catalyst for others that it is a strong state having many powerful resources .Of these religious services is the start of the Hegira ,the 1stof Moharram making that ritual on official celebration .

Fatimids were the first to innovate this ritual, then it developed from its simple shape and structure into elaborated activities including supplying food , charity ,processions of the Caliph followed by his men and soldiers with glittering weapons decorating the procession.
