Abstract EN

This study investigates colours, their names, and their development in Arabic dictionaries.

The first section introduces the criteria of the primary and secondary colours and the issue of colours in Arabic language.

The second section, ‘The Semantics of Primary Colours in Arabic Lexicons,’ is a practical section of the study where aspect of semantics of the primary colours in old and contemporary Arabic lexicons is presented.

Finally, the study ends with references used in the current research.
