مشكلة الانتحار في الأردن من عام (2012-2015 م)‎ : دراسة سوسيولوجية

Abstract EN

The present study aims at investigating the problem of suicide in Jordan from 2012-2015.

It sheds light on the demographic characteristics of the suicidal cases and attempts to reveal the motivations, ways and the most common tools used in committing suicide.

The study also attempts to identify the geographic distribution including the regions which exhibit the highest numbers of the suicidal cases.

The population of the study consisted of )407( suicidal cases including both males and females which are officially recorded by Criminal Information Department, the Public Security Directorate, Jordan.

Descriptive statistics including calculating frequencies, averages and ratios was applied.

The findings of the study reveal that the highest rates (154) of suicide commits were in Amman, whereas the lowest rates (2 commits) were in Al Batra.

Furthermore, the highest rates were in 2015 (113 commits), followed by 2013 (108 commits), then 2014 (100 commits); the lowest suicide rates were in 2012 (86 commits).

Moreover, the findings show that the majority of suicide commits were generally among males while the age group (18-27) including both males and females showed the highest suicide rates.

The most active motives of suicide commits were psychiatric illnesses, frustration and family troubles; the most commonly suicide commits were executed by hanging
