Abstract EN

The study aimed at exploring the degree of social adjustment among the elderly living at Dar Alddiafa and the extent to which they relate to the variables: gender, marital status, the educational level, the presence of children, the sources of income and the duration of residence.

The study sample was (66) elderly males and females.

The descriptive approach was used and a questionnaire was developed to measure the degree of social adjustment.

The results showed a good degree of social adjustment for the elderly on the scale as a whole.

There were no statistically significant differences in the degree of their social adjustment due to the variables of the social situation, the level of education, the presence of children and the sources of income.

The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of adjustment due to the gender variable in favor of males.

The results also showed statistically significant differences in their degree of social adjustment due to the variable of duration of residence for the elderly who resided for five years and more.

The study has come up with several recommendations including the effort of Dar Alddiafato involve elderly in various activities to enhance their adjustment, and it also reinforces the social relations and bonds of the elderly with its employees or with other residents.
