Abstract EN

This research aims to evaluate the role of Islamic banks in Palestine to mobilize resources for financing the process of economic development.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used analytical descriptive method based on collecting data from various sources.

The data collected were analyzed using the following three criteria; The first of which deals with the growth rate of long-term financing in the total volume of financing.

The second criterion deals with the modes of deployment in the total deployment of the total resources, and the third one deals with the ratio of funding of different economic sectors in total funding.

The analysis also included comparison between the performance of Islamic banks during the research period with the previous years.

The research found that while short-term financing constituted most of the funds’ deployments of the Islamic banks operating in Palestine, medium-term financing and long-term financing constituted the next levels respectively.

Most of the funding were made through mode of Murabaha, with an average of 70% of the total investments, followed by direct investment, with an average of 21.8%, followed by other modes of investments with a marginal and simple ratio.

The financing of Islamic banks in the productive sectors; such as agriculture, industry and modern services was excluded in prioritization.

The services sector accounted for 63.5% of the total finance on average.

While traditional services constituted the majority of these investments, the share of agriculture and industry accounted for no more than 3.5% of total funding on average.
