As for defining the post-colonial epoch in "Post-Colonial States and the Struggle for Identity," the American researcher Samuel Helfont wrote his vision of the comprehensibility in order to indicate to the terminology "The Post-Colonial Epoch" which is considered a fundamental question for those historians interested in the Middle East in the twentieth century.
Besides, the essay includes a general discussion about the post-colonial epoch in which the researcher touches on three cases and they are: Egypt, Iraq and Iran.

A propos de la definition de la periode postcoloniale, le chercheur americain Samuel Helfont ecrit un article intitule "Les Etats postcoloniaux et la lutte pour l'identite" (Post-colonial states and the struggle for identity) ou il decrit sa vision conceptuelle pour montrer que notion "periode postcoloniale" est une problematique essentielle pour les historiens preoccupes par le Moyen-Orient au XXe siecle.
L'article comprend egalement une lecture generate du debat en cours sur la periode postcoloniale.
Le chercheur y traite trois cas: l'Egypte, l'lrak et l'lran.
