Abstract EN

The creativity and innovation by technology and administrative intelligence constitute the backbone of economic growth in the modern era.

The inclusion of the issue relative to the intellectual property rights protection in the Uruguay negotiations was made on the request of the US administration.

According to the terms of the agreement, the intellectual property rights include: copyright, trademarks, geographical commodities rights, industrial designs, layout designs of integrated circuits, and industrial secrets.

The agreement aims to extend protection for all associated intellectual property related to trade, and to develop new rules to protect those rights, and organizing mechanisms to enforce protection for conflict prevention and resolution.

It also focuses on planning for the protection of global technology industries such as the biological process which includes the genetics engineering and the protection of the pharmaceutical industry.

Unlike previous agreements, the industrialized countries went through this agreement to achieve their aims concerning the effective control of the intellectual property rights.

The advanced industrial nations, acting as a provider of knowledge and technology, were the designers of the entire agreement.

They made every endeavor to enforce it to the Southern countries and the Arab states.

The burden of this agreement will deepen in the encirclement of the Arab states, maintaining them as exclusive exporters of raw materials, and provision of a market for their advanced products.
