Through this research paper, we have attempted to highlight the role of the teacher in environmental education in the Algerian school since s/He is the partner and the main part in the educational process and the effective and influential one in it.
The teacher can play very important roles as a responsible for the development of culture and environmental awareness among the youth.
This can be done via making them interact with their environment properly and to take appropriate decisions to protect it and to address the problems it faces, and because the effectiveness of environmental education cannot be achieved unless it is based on a number of features and specifications that enable teachers to perfect their work , and some of these characteristics are related to the habits and behaviors that must be compatible with the requirements of environmental protection and maintenance, including what is related to the manner of work and educational duties required by the topics of bio-environmental education, and which requires the teacher to be aware of environmental issues and problems, and s/he should be aware of the latest developments in the field of educational sciences ,psychological and social issues, which also accompanied environmental issues and proposed approaches and pedagogical strategies that commensurate with the requirements of the environment’s protection, so we have attempted in a part of this study to reveal out the teacher’s readiness and the extent of preparation and rehabilitation in this new dimension Of the educational process, which enables him/her to learn the basics of environmental education and philosophy, principles and concepts, control and use of the appropriate use of educational methods and means to achieve the objectives to the learners.
