Abstract EN

Praise be to Allah ،the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds.

Prayers and peace are upon the prophet Abi-el-Qassim Mohammed and his honorable household and companies.

This paper is an attempt to implement the principle of cultural criticism which is one of the most prominent manifestations of post modernism.

It tries to find the formats implicit under the masks of poetic beauty and cultural ugliness.

These formats cannot be elicited without being able to know cultural criticism which aims to simulate the texts as cultural events.

In spite of that ،it cannot be regarded as a substitution for literary criticism.

In fact they are complementary.

So ،it can be said that the relation between cultural and literary criticism is that of complementation and not a relation of competition.

This paper has dealt with a modern Iraqi poet from Karbala.

He is Najah AL-Arsan who is a poet of the nineties generation.

The study has attempted to discover the implicit formats and the systemic indications hidden under the masks of beauty.

It is found that the poet is affected by his society and this is clear in his discourse which is characterized by marginalizing the other.

He is also affected by political and religious formats.

Sometimes ،the poet exaggerates the ego and reduces the affair of the other to the extent that he makes the other dependent on him.

However ،the most distinct formats are found in his poems (Abeth) and (Ya Zayed Albir).

Consciously or unconsciously ،the poet makes the praising and political formats dominant in these poems.

From the title of his poem (Ya Zayed Albir) ، which he presents to sheikh Zayed ،he describes him as being martyr ،generous and teacher.

But in (Abeth) which he presents to his friend Rasheed AL-Dulaymi he does not describe his friend as a martyr but talks about him as being killed.

So ،these implicit formats are not disclosed and cannot be elicited without studying them carefully in the light of cultural criticism.

To accomplish this paper ،the researcher has mode use of resources about cultural criticism and other modern resources about criticism.
