The crisis of the triumph of democratic freedoms in the early 1950s prompted the revolutionary elite group of veterans of the Special Organization to take the decision to declare armed action as a last resort available, so that to emerge from the crisis and frustration that characterized the political process in this period.

Therefore, this article examines the overall circumstances that prevailed at the time, mainly related to thinking about the declaration of the revolution, and from there follows the course of preparation for this event, limiting the stakes and alternatives available, and the overall outcome of the project.
