An analytical reading of Abu at-Ṭayyib Al-mutanabbi's poem "Stop Blaming Me !"

Abū aṭ-Ṭayyib Aḥmad Ibn al-Ḥuṣaīn al-Mutanabī was born in AD 915 at the end of the Abbasid era.

He is considered as one of the greatest poets in the Arabic language.

Much of his poetry revolves around praising the kings he visited during his lifetime.

This study attempts to approach Al-Mutanabbī's poetic language and, most importantly, its syntactical and rhetorical structures, in his famous poem "Stop Blaming Me!" It concludes that the text considers semantically a poetical structure which relies on four stanzas.

Both the first and the third stanzas represent a reason for forming the second and the fourth stanzas successively.

A circular structure is perceived in which the reader vividly realizes a narrative biography formed through a narrative style Al-Mutanabbī adopts to impart and convey his suffering in Egypt.

This structure goes through his demand to go away and depart and ends in his inability to achieve and realize it.

Accordingly, Al-Mutanabbī invests various styles in both structures which are tackled in the analytical reading of the poem.
