Abstract EN

Aristotle’s Rhetoric had been circulating among Arab scholars since the late third century, and it had been of great interest in Modern Arabic studies.

Arguments and counterarguments were visibly present in the studies’ analysis of the work.

This study aims at examining those arguments that were sharply focused on in the modern studies of The Rhetoric.

The study identified four arguments; First: arguments over the period of time in which the book was translated.

Second: arguments on part three of the book regarding Style.

Third: arguments regarding the question of who was responsible for the arabic translation of the book.

Fourth: arguments concerning the book’s influence on criticism and rhetoric.

The researcher concludes that, compared to Aristotle’s Poetics, the Rhetoric had a stronger impact on criticism and rhetoric.

The study uses Ai-Badi by Ibn al-Mutaz as a model for this topic.
