Abstract EN

This article focuses on Motivation as a determinant factor of human behavior according to two criteria; one is psychological, the other is neuro-physiological.

Besides the famous theory of Abraham Maslow, also Called Hierarchy of needs theory that explains motivation, the study sheds light on “The triune brain theory” of Paul D.

MacLean in the field of neurophysiology.

If Abraham Maslow explained the motivation from the psychological view point, the triune brain theory explained it from a neurophysiological perspective.

The study aims to clarify the relationship between the two theories, and their compatibility to explain motivation by using a comparative descriptive method.

On the one hand, there is a thorough explanation of the hierarchy of needs theory for its readers in order to enable them to understand it and be capable to see the relationship that links it to triune brain theory.

On the other hand, the study determines how triune brain theory explains physiologically the hierarchy of needs theory.

Finally, some critical comments are destined to the two theories.
