Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the problems families of drug addicts face in the Saudi society through monitoring and analysis.

To achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher uses the descriptive analytic approach which is based on the qualitative and quantative methods of collecting and analyzing the data of the field study.

The field study has been applied to a non-probability (intentional) sample of 65 families of drug addicts in three different cities: Jeddah, Hail, and Al Qassim as well as in-depth interviews with 20 families.

The study concludes that the families of drug addicts suffer from a complex system of problems related to the structure of the family, the addicts themselves, or the society.

Finally, the study stresses the need for making both official and unofficial concerted efforts to formulate and apply preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative methods to decrease the number of addicts, and support their families
