Abstract EN

This study aimed at determining the effectiveness of a counseling program based on cognitive modeling and role playing strategies in improving the self-assertiveness of adolescents Syrian refugees .

Thirty adolescents Syrian refugees at Al Azraq Camp, (12-17) years, were selected as subjects of the study based on A (Rathus) Self-Assertiveness Scale was administered as pre, post and follow up test to determine the level of their self-assertiveness.

The participants were randomly distributed into two groups.

The experimental group (15) adolescents, and received a counseling program based on cognitive modeling and role playing strategies through group counseling in order to improve their self- assertiveness.

The program lasted for (6) weeks, two (60) minute sessions weekly, and a control group (15) adolescents did not received any training.

The results showed significant differences between the averages performance of the two groups : experimental group and control group on self - assertiveness scale and its dimensions.

They were in favor of the experimental group.

The results also showed that members of the experimental group maintained their improvement when the follow up conducted and this refers to the effectiveness of training program in improving a self-assertiveness skill.
