Abstract EN

Mahmoud Derwish has several ways to approach the Ego and the other in his poetry, according to his vision of life, the world, and existence.

This study wishes to approach Derwish’s vision to the ego and the other rising from a poetic question, which is philosophic and an aesthetic question especially in his collection entitled “Do not Apologize For What You Have Done”.

How did Derwish meditate the ego and the other? How did he interpret them after his journey with poetry? How did the artistic and aesthetic momentum co-escalated with the meditative momentum in his poems? These questions, among others, are the focus of this study; the objective is to critically respond to the ego and the other, by probing the ego and the other texts in the verse of a controversial poet like Derwish.
