Abstract EN

The research aims at identifying the essence of the institutional research, and investigating its role in decision-making in Saudi emerging universities.

To achieve this goal, a questionnaire was distributed to deans and deputies of the colleges, and to the heads and supervisors of the scientific departments in five emerging Saudi universities in (Dammam, Al-Jouf, Shaqra, Najran and Al-Baha).

The total number of the respondents was (338) members.

The research shows that the concept of institutional research is clear for the majority of the sample community.

Moreover, about (90 %) of the members point out there is no (center-department-unit-office) for the institutional research in their universities.

In addition, the results shows the important role of the institutional research in meeting the needs of all management levels in the flowing information, guiding strategic planning, developing the system of decision-making, and preparing of forward-looking strategies to cope with the expected challenges in the Saudi emerging universities.

Finally, the results show a statistically significant correlation between the institutional research and all axes of the study.
