Abstract EN

This study focuses on the feeling of nostalgic grief in the poetry of Ibn Muqbil, a poet who lived 120 years in the Jahiliah and Islam eras.

The study shows that this feeling was present in the poetry of Ibin Muqbil as a result of some social, religious, and psychological circumstances.

Among these are his luxurious life and absolute freedom in the Jahiliah era and the parting between him and his wife, Dahma, in the Islam era.

The poet’s nostalgic grief is embodied in his verses about the youth and the old age, the woman as a wife and a beloved, the ruins, the wine, the merry-making parties, and the old days along with the calamities brought about with the passage of time.
