Abstract EN

A field experiment was conducted during fall / spring 2017 – 2018 at small farm in Almaia, Libya.

the aim of the experiment was focused on the effect of nitrogen (46 % N) and organic fertilizer on the vegetative growth of Eruca sativa plants.

The experiment was designed in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications.

The seedlings were subjected to six levels of nitrogen in the form of urea (NH2)2CO (N%46) which were 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 % kg N / ha, and organic fertilizer in form of sheep compost.

the fertilizers were added in three applications at different stages of plant growth.

Results showed that addition of nitrogen and organic fertilizers, each separately, caused significant increase in vegetative growth of plant in term of: number of leaves, plant length, number of branches, leaf area, and fresh and dry weight.

The result found that nitrogen fertilizer with level of 90 % kg / ha gave the highest increase in vegetative growth as compared with control and other treatments.

Also, the study concluded that addition of organic fertilizers increased vegetative growth of Eruca sativa.

plants as the result was very close to the result obtained using 90 % kg / ha of nitrogen fertilizer.
