Abstract EN

Intellectual deviation, in its broad sense, is considered one of the most prominent threats to security, in addition it is one of the most dangerous risks faced by contemporary youth.

It is claimed that intellectual deviation usually arises from the smallest cell of society, the nuclear family as family functioning contributes directly or indirectly in the conditioning of children, andtherefore may contribute to their intellectual deviation later on.Based on this premise, this study aims at exploring the role of the family itself in counteracting or preventing intellectual deviation among youth.

It is a descriptive study, in which the researcher applied two methods of social survey: A random sampling method on secondary school students.

A comprehensive survey of faculty members at the College of Social Services 2.

(Princess Nourah University) using a questionnaire to collect data.

The results revealed that there are many behavioral and intellectual aspects that are considered indicators of youth deviation.

Moreover, these results confirmed the importance of the role of the family in counteracting the growth of intellectual deviation.

The study concluded with recommendations, proposing the implementationof a treatment model based on cognitive behavioral therapy to define how the role of the family can effectively confront the early warning signals of intellectual deviation among family members.
