This study tackled the phenomenon of the confiscation of Sudanese newspapers and the pro and against views towards this confiscation in light of the recent recurrence of this matter in a frightening manner, a matter which made many journalists, media professionals and academics believe that Sudan according to international official reports has become a late rank regarding the freedom of press and publication, Whereas journalists and experts have conflicting statements towards confiscation same said: confiscation is not the solution, but the solution in the application of the law, while others said the confiscation of newspapers and stop printing is contrary to the Constitution.

The research addresses the problem of the study by adopting the descriptive approach.

The researcher uses the descriptive methodological approach on a case study and content analysis, as well as adopting the historical method to analyze the media discourse of the Sudanese press.

The study concluded that the confiscation of Sudanese newspapers is carried out in accordance with exceptional procedures of the National Security Service under the National Security Law, which gave the right to post and pre-printing censorship of Sudanese newspapers.

The study also concluded that one of the reasons for confiscating newspapers in Sudan is some sensitive issues raising and cross the red lines in some other issues related to some political leaders, in addition to leading daring argument on controversial issues, and addressing social security issues on a daily basis.

The study recommended that the press laws and press publications of Sudan put some restrictions on the freedom of the media in general and the freedom of the printed press in particular.

The most prominent of these restrictions are the censorship and legislative restrictions represented in the articles of some of the Press and Publications Law of 2009, in addition to political and economic pressures, which sometimes the Sudanese press experience, most notably the confiscation post and pre-printing censorship.

The study stressed that freedom of the press is a human right and called for the need for guarantees for public freedoms, freedom of opinion, expression and publication, and the right to access information, along with the need to provide laws and legislations that guarantee freedom of opinion and expression.

The study also underlined the need to create mechanisms to cease confiscation with more role and intervention of the National Council for Press and Publications, and press organizations at large
