Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to identify the role of the Kuwait University in reinforcing the values of citizenship among its students.

It investigated the role of the curriculum and the faculty members at the university, and the students> activities in forming the values of citizenship of students at the university.

The researcher used questionnaire of 42 items composed of four dimensions: the value of belonging, the value of respect for the laws, the value of national symbols, and the value of participation of the citizenship at the university..

The study measured the level of national loyalty of students on the one hand and the level of their practice of citizenship on the other.

The study showed moderate effectiveness in the impact of curricula and teachers on national awareness among university students.

It also showed an average national awareness of allegiance, belonging to the homeland and national participation.

The study showed the impact of gender difference, scientific specialization, social affiliation and political affiliation.

These differences were in favor of the faculties of humanity versus the scientific colleges, for males versus females, for the first years compared to recent years, and for the benefit of students versus urban students.

Hence, the study issued recommendations to work towards increasing the impact of curricula and teachers in raising the level of awareness of citizenship and its importance as a national starting point in building national unity and cultural cohesion in the State of Kuwait.
