Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the authority of the United Nations General Assembly in the report and application of international sanctions which became one of the means adopted by the General Assembly to oppose the irregularities that obstruct their proper functioning.

These are disciplinary sanctions (administrative) or various international serious violations that threat peace and security and the General Assembly confronts them with military or non-military sanctions through the powers granted to it by the Charter of the United Nations.

First by the detection of the fault and the determination of the nature of the offence committed by a State‘s member, then the application of the appropriate sanction.

The Charter of the United Nations is the reference and the legal basis on which the United Nations General Assembly imposes sanctions, so that all its resolutions and recommendations are legitimate and effective
