The survey of cohesion is very important in text linguistics, so we study in this article two instruments of cohesion: substitution and substitution by zero (Ellipsis ).

We will determine essence of text linguistics, textuality, and the difference between substitution and substitution by zero (Ellipsis ).

We are exploring how they contribute in cohesion of texts, whith examples from Quran and Sibawayeh´s book
