The Laghouat region, as many other parts of the country, has been subjected to a ferocious campaign by the French enemy , in order to complete its expansionist project.

Two thirds of the population, it means that more than 2,500 from 3000 inhabitants were killed as martyrs.

Laghouat was the first city in the world to be destroyed by chemical weaponson the one hand.

On the other hand, The French army had suffered heavy casualties, which were saved by their soldiers in their journals and their memories.

our information about this historical fact is taken from" the African magazine (Revue Africaine), as an original source, which was published by (E.

Mangin) in the form of articles before it became a book under the title (Notes on the history of Laghouat 1895) (Notes sur l’histoire de Laghouat 1895) .The author tells us the facts and events that took place in the region of laghouat.
