The Community Order, which includes a curfew with electronic monitoring (Curfew order with electronic monitoring), is an alternative sentence (punishment) to imprisonment under English law.

In a more general sense, Electronic monitoring system adopted by English criminal justice (England and Wales) is one of the oldest in Western Europe.

It has become and remains the most used system in Europe for its flexibility.

In fact, the number of people subject to electronic monitoring has increased significantly, especially after the promulgation of the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
