Abstract EN
This research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of The blended learning on the development of biological literacy among secondary stage students in Saudi Arabia.
To achieve the aims of the research , the descriptive approach was used to analyze the content of three chapters of the biology book-level(4),and the experimental approach was used.
The sample was consisted of (70) students who were selected "Purposively" from the fourth level students in "Dar Al-Rai" secondary school in "Tabuk" for the academic year 2016/2017(AD).
These students were divided into two groups: a control group (35) students, and an experimental one (35) students.
A content analysis tool was developed to derive the dimensions and elements of the biological literacy, scientific facts and concepts, also, the biological literacy test , the teacher's guide and the student's guide were constructed.Also, a list of the dimensions of the biological literacy was constructed , and an educational website that supports distance learning was designed as a main aspect of the blended learning.
Data was collected and analyzed by using statistical procedures by the (SPSS) program and by using T-test .
Also, one-way analysis of variance ( ANOVA) was used.
The results of the research showed the effectiveness of the blended learning on biological literacy development among secondary stage students through : There are statistical significant differences between the averages of the fourth level students responses (experimental group and control group) in the biological literacy post-test in favor of the experimental group.
According to these results, the researcher recommended to apply blended learning to develop biological literacy among secondary stage students , Also design the curriculum in light of the dimensions of the biological literacy, and take care of the evaluation of those dimensions
