Abstract EN

Algeria has tried to diversify water sources through the adoption of a strategy based on the management of water resources across the country contributing to the promotion and fulfill water various sectors mainly the agricultural sector that boosts the economic diversification.

The most important element of this strategy deals with the major water transfers across regions.

In addition to this, there was some building dams as well as the use of seawater desalination plants in order to cover the deficit of the coast areas, and transferring the water surplus to the inner cities.

Moreover, it has been the use of desert water layer to the south population.

Thus, Algeria has provided the necessary institutional structure through various infrastructures optimizing efficient water resources management.

A case study of Setif highlights this national strategy.

Setif has benefited from a large two conversions from the cities of Jijel and Bejaia in order to provide water to « Maouane » and « Draa el Diss ».
