Turam-ili played a significant and prominent role in trade organizing during the period of the last three kings of Ur III (amar-sin, šu -sin, and abi-sin).
He depended in his work on many clerks who used different calendars according to the merchants they dealt with, or according to the cities where the contracts and agreements were signed.
His name was mentioned in one of the published cuneiform texts as a supervisor of the merchants.
